2020-

CULTISH is a streetwear brand founded in Cape Town in 2020 by creative director Ryan Brussow.

Born from an ongoing obsession with skateboarding, punk, hip-hop, internet culture and graphic ephemera, CULTISH grew out of years spent inside DIY scenes, zine culture, forums, music and design. The brand draws equally from terrace energy, Renaissance art, outsider culture and the visual language of the early internet.

What began with a handful of oversized tees and screen-printed graphics has evolved into an independent label with its own atelier and production process in Cape Town. Garments are cut, dyed, washed, distressed and printed locally, with an emphasis on process, experimentation and hands-on construction.

CULTISH is subversive in attitude, punk in spirit and deliberate in execution. The brand moves between abrasion and refinement, luxury and utility, gallery and gutter, without forcing resolution between them.

Built independently and shaped from within culture rather than around it, CULTISH has grown through community, physical spaces and a direct relationship with the people who wear it.
